The traditional coastal town of Weymouth draws many visitors for good reason. There is a popular sandy beach and a great selection of shops, cafes, restaurants and bars to explore, perfect if you’d rather leave your car behind. The town is backed by rolling hills, offering the best of both countryside and coast, with many walking routes weaving through this verdant landscape, including the South West Coast Path. Nearby attractions include the lighthouse at Portland Bill, Bowleaze Cove, Chesil Beach and Nothe Fort, or head further afield to the county town of Dorchester or the picturesque village of Abbotsbury which is home to a swannery and sub-tropical gardens.
This third-floor apartment has a shared entrance door, with stairs and a lift leading to the private entrance into the property. Once inside you are met with a welcoming open plan lounge/kitchen/diner immediately to your left. This well designed and airy space has a comfortable lounge area with a TV, dining space for two and a well-equipped kitchen with an electric oven and hob, microwave, fridge/freezer and washing machine. Weymouth is a busy seaside town and lies on the World Heritage Jurassic Coast. Weymouth's golden sandy beach has received the Quality Coast Award. This is because of good quality water, well-developed facilities and beach supervision. There are plenty of supermarkets and a variety of shops. There is a wide choice of cafes and restaurants, offering a range of cuisines. As a result, you are spoilt for choice. Weymouth is famous for its fresh seafood. You can often see the local fishermen unloading their daily catch from the Harbour. It is from the harbour that you can pick up boat tours. These include a tour of the Jurassic coast and a water taxi from Weymouth to Portland.
Weymouth Attractions and Activities
Lodmoor Country Park is fantastic for the children and adults to explore and rest for a picnic. In addition, try your hand at crazy golf or let the children drive in the little go-kart track. Let the children loose in the Pirate Ship Play Park or the Green Gym. Slide down the wonky slide or walk the dog through the woodland paths. RSPB Nature Reserve is next to Lodmoore Park displaying details of all the Marsh birds in the area. Also, there is a cafe for refreshments after all the exploring. Sandworld is by the cycle path at Lodmoor park. Be amazed at the awesome sculptures made by local artists. You can let the children take turns to make their own sand sculpture. In addition, view smaller displays along the seafront. In conclusion, the attention to detail that goes into these will amaze you.
The Sea Life Centre is full of marine animals and much much more. The Centre is jam-packed full of fun rides and activities for the children. There are also rides galore along the seafront with arcades that stay open in the evenings. A little train will take you along the length of the seafront. Here you will find Donkey rides on the beach are available. Punch and Judy play on the seafront during the summer. A short walk away is the Nothe Fort which holds events for both adults and children. Weymouth is well known for the Red Arrows display which happens on Carnival Day. You can watch the action from the beach and see the fireworks from the bay. At night, colourful lasers light up the seafront and the promenade. The Pavillion theatre holds regular live shows.
