Oak Cottage is located in the hamlet of Shitterton within the village of Bere Regis, a very well-appointed barn conversion with vaulted, beamed ceilings, creating a modern retreat. The garden is equally as good as the interior, fully enclosed with lawned area, a seating area featuring a large corner sofa and a hot tub to further relax in. The supplied barbecue is perfect for a summer evening followed by a dip in the hot tub to chat, relax and if looking up enjoy the galaxy without light pollution. If you can leave this luxurious base the explore the local historic market towns of Dorchester, Wareham and Wimborne to the stunning Jurassic Coast or the Blue Flag beaches of Poole and Bournemouth. Both a shop and the local pub are within a 10-minute walk of the front door and all of this can be enjoyed with the whole family as Oak Cottage will accept two well-behaved pets.

Upstairs there are two further bedrooms arranged as a king-size double and a twin with the shower room having a shower, basin and toilet. A travel cot, baby bath and highchair can be made available upon request.

Bere Regis is a small, pretty village in Dorset. If peace and tranquillity are on the agenda, you have found it. Bere Regis was made famous by Thomas Hardy in his classic story ‘Tess of the d'Urbervilles". The village has a shop, post office and two pubs. It is very picturesque with thatched cottages and Bere Regis Church takes centre stage.
There are plenty of cycle and walking trails to discover, in fact, explore Wareham Forest by foot or bike, either way, the paths are smooth and easy. Dogs can join you on this adventure too. Staying around the village then both the Lawrence Ride and Purbeck Ride cycle routes pass through the nearby villages of Briantspuddle and Turnerspuddle and then skirt the southern edge of Bere Regis. The Jubilee Trail walking route passes through Bere Regis towards Moreton village.
The beautiful Athelhampton House is a short drive away on the edge of Puddletown village. Explore the Tudor house and extensive gardens, relax in the cafe for cream tea or dinner. Monkey World, in Wareham, is an all-year-round attraction. Although a very popular tourist attraction, Monkey World does serious work and helps governments around the world to stop the smuggling of primates from the wild. There are over 230 primates at Monkey World of including the home of Europe's only Orang-utan creche. Visit the Tank Museum in Bovington, experience driving a tank or watch the amazing re-enactment of a battle, complete with explosions.
