Description

West Bay, made famous by the BBC series Broadchurch, is known for its colourful harbour, expanse of beaches and majestic cliffs. Traditional food huts selling a range of seaside fare overlook the harbour and there are many other choices of eateries and bars, some of which also have waterside views. Boat trips can be taken from West Bay to Lyme Regis, as well as fishing trips for fishing enthusiasts. Why not leave the car behind and take a half-hour walk along the river past Palmers Brewery and into the popular market town of Bridport, which is just a couple of miles away. The pretty town offers plenty of great places to eat and drink, as well as markets on Wednesdays and Saturdays, and a thriving selection of boutiques selling antiques and vintage curios, should you wish to seek out some treasures. There are several glorious beaches nearby including Eype, Seatown, Charmouth, Hive Beach and Chesil Beach. Part of the Jurassic Coast World Heritage Site, the coast is perfect for family holidays, fossil-hunting, fishing and diving. Heading inland there are many places of interest including Forde Abbey, the Kingston Russell Stone Circle, Eggardon Hill, Lewesdon Hill and Lambert’s and Coney’s Castle.

On entering this bright and attractive property you can leave coats, boots and beach gear in the hall before heading up the first-floor apartment. Here you will find the welcoming and cosy lounge/diner which is a lovely space to unwind in at the end of a great day. You can snuggle up and watch a movie on the TV/DVD, catch up with a good book or play one of the board games provided. There is also an inviting dining area situated just by the window. Moving into the kitchen you will find it fully equipped with an oven, microwave, fridge, freezer, washing machine, dishwasher and a handy dining area perfect for breakfast or for grabbing a snack. Exploring further you will find two charming bedrooms: one double room and a twin. There is also a bathroom complete with a shower over the bath and a WC.

From the lounge, you can step out onto the sunny, south-facing balcony where you can enjoy an alfresco meal. Parking is available for one small car in the garage, with additional parking for one car with a parking permit.

West Bay

With the stunning golden glow of the majestic sandstone cliffs, West Bay is the" Golden Gateway" to the Jurassic Coast. West Bay offers some stunning landscapes to explore, with breathtaking views from its cliff tops. The village features in the Good Beach Guide as achieving the highest award for seawater quality. East Beach stretches as far as you can see along Chesil Beach to Portland Bill. West Beach is ideal for younger children as it has a protective cove and is sandy. In the summer, a lifeguard service watches over the waters of both beaches. The town, harbour, and beach were the location for the series Broadchurch which has made this previously hidden gem even more popular with visitors.
