Description

One of a small terrace of traditional stone cottages in a desirable location, taking full advantage of the coastal views and Swanage town amenities, a popular seaside resort since Victorian times. Benefitting from almost direct access to the coastal path, Swanage is a short stroll away with its various restaurants, public houses and shops, plus its miles of sandy beach. Swimming, boating, fishing, diving and paddling can be enjoyed here. Head west along the coastal path to enjoy the delights of Durlston and then Worth Matravers, Kimmeridge and Lulworth. Bird lovers may particularly enjoy Brownsea Island as well as the RSPB site at Arne. The Swanage Steam Railway service links this coastal resort with the charming and historic village of Corfe Castle. This peninsular of land is in the south of Dorset, famous for its sandy beaches, stunning countryside and the Jurassic Coast World Heritage site – an area not to be missed.

On entering the cottage there is a living area with comfortable seating and TV, as well as a kitchen equipped with an electric cooker and hob, microwave, refrigerator, small freezer and washing machine. A staircase leads up to the first floor where there is a lovely double bedroom with stunning sea views across the bay. On the same floor, there is a tiled shower room with a built-in shower and a WC. Further along is an attractive bunk bedroom. Another flight of stairs takes you up to a third double bedroom and yet more superb sea views. A second shower room with WC can be found in a small outbuilding accessed via the kitchen and up a small flight of seven fairly steep steps. This is ideal for use when returning from the beach.

Outside, the cottage has a walled courtyard-style front garden overlooking the ocean. Outdoor furniture is provided so that meals can be enjoyed outside whilst enjoying the captivating views across the sea. A roadside parking permit is provided for one car to park at the rear of the cottages.

Please note there is a refundable £100 security deposit for this property payable closer to the start of your holiday.

Beaches

Swanage beach is 4 miles of golden, sandy beach. Sheltered waters, and lifeguards patrolling the beach in the summer months, makes it very popular with families. This beach holds the prestigious Blue flag award for beach cleanliness. Why not hire out a traditional beach hut for the duration of your stay, this will save you carrying your beach luggage everywhere. Pedalos can be hired on the beach as can deckchairs, although dogs are not allowed on this beach from May to September. Pier Beach is a tiny sand and shingle beach near the traditional pier, perfect for sitting and watching the world go by. The clear waters make it great for snorkelling or angling. Dogs are allowed on this beach all year.

Swanage Railway

Swanage Railway is a fantastic and exciting way to see the Isle of Purbeck in style. This heritage railway has a steam and diesel train running the five and a half miles from Norden. It takes in Corfe Castle and Swanage with picnic tables at most stations for you to make the most of the day. Take a day trip to Corfe Castle, explore the castle and then make the return journey back. At Christmas, join the Swanage railway for a magical Christmas adventure for not only the children to enjoy but the adults too.
