The towns of Dorchester and Weymouth are 27 minutes away by car in opposite directions. The village is surrounded by National Trust land. Popular for its all-year-round fishing, you can very often catch mackerel off Chesil Beach in the summer and bass in the autumn. The area is a birdwatcher's paradise and great for ramblers discovering unseen treasures.

The Swannery in Abbotsbury is well worth a visit, for bird-lovers and you may even be lucky enough to spot a cygnet. Abbotsbury children's farm is a delight for any parent looking to entertain their children. Children can ride tractors, visit pets corner, and much more. There is a cafe which serves lunch and beverages so parents can sit and relax with a coffee while the children finish off the day with soft play.
