Located next to a church and green, you can pay the hamlet’s ancient oak tree a visit and revel in the peaceful tranquillity of the area. Further afield, Lulworth Cove is only 3.5 miles and a must-visit, as is Lulworth Castle only 2.5 miles away. For something to eat, East Knighton is only 3.5 miles away and home to several eateries and pubs.

With roots dating back to the 18th century, this handsome, Grade II-listed thatched cottage was once a labourer’s cottage for Lulworth Estate. Offering space for everyone and packed full of authentic charm, it provides a unique escape from the rhythm of everyday life. Oozing with history and character, the cottage retains many period features, and the lounge is no exception. A hugely attractive room with exposed wooden beams and an original feature fireplace with a bread oven, the room has an immediately inviting vibe. Equipped with a sofa, two armchairs and a window seat, the whole family can find somewhere comfortable to sit and gather around for a film. From the lounge, you can access the kitchen with a dining area via a couple of steps. A crisp, clean space blending traditional themes with modern style, it is a real family space. Turn on some music as you cook up a feast for everyone to dig into around the dining table. Well-provisioned with an oven and electric hob, family-sized fridge, dishwasher and even a washing machine, the whole process is made easy from start to finish. For more of a sense of occasion, the ground floor also has a separate dining room, also accessed via two steps down. Also on the ground floor, there is the family bathroom with a bath with shower overhead and a games room. A firm favourite amongst younger generations (and big kids at heart), the games room comes complete with books, a TV and games consoles, including an Xbox and Wii. Upstairs, you will come to the property’s three bedrooms. The first is an adorable single, the second is a twin and the third is a double (accessed via a couple of steps) with an en-suite WC across a small corridor. A historic property, many of the rooms, especially upstairs, feature open beams and reduced head height.

Outside, the cottage’s rear garden is split across three levels. The ground has a patio area with two built-in outdoor bench seats. From here, seven steps lead to a luscious lawn hugged by trees and plant life and a deck area with seating. Accessed via five more steps, the top level of the garden has another lawn area, ideal for picnics in the sun. If you are driving to the property, there is dedicated parking for two cars.

Dogs are charged at £20 each per full or part week.
