The Barn is a Victorian barn conversion situated in a peaceful location, 2.5 miles from the town of Shaftesbury. This cottage sleeps six people in three bedrooms, consisting of one ground floor king-size double with en-suite bathroom and twin and a first-floor twin with en-suite bathrooms. The cottage also has a kitchen with a breakfast table, a dining area in the entrance hall and a first-floor mezzanine sitting room. Outside there is off road parking for two cars, a shared, front lawned area with furniture and barbecue, and a children’s play area. The Barn is a superb base for exploring the many attractions that can be found in the West Country.
The Barn lies on the Dorset/Wiltshire border in the village of Sedgehill which is less than 3 miles from Shaftesbury. A Victorian attached barn conversion, it is one of nine properties at the location grouped around an attractive grassed courtyard setting. The interior is striking, with exposed beams, vaulted ceilings, an impressive dining room within the grand entrance hall and a mezzanine sitting room.
The accommodation at The Barn comprises of an entrance hall containing the dining room, mezzanine sitting room with Freeview TV, DVD player, WiFi and a selection of books and games. The kitchen has a breakfast table and is equipped with an electric oven and hob, microwave, fridge/freezer and dishwasher with a washing machine and tumble dryer in a utility area. There are three bedrooms, a double with an en-suite with bath, basin and toilet, a ground floor twin with en-suite with bath, basin and toilet and a further ground floor twin with en-suite with bath with shower over, basin and toilet. A travel cot and high chair can be provided upon request.
Outside there is a shared front lawned area complete with furniture and a barbecue. There is a children's play area and The Barn accepts up to two well-behaved dogs. There is off-road parking available for two cars. Your fuel, power, bed linen and towels are all included in the price. Please note there is an interconnecting door between this and Corner Cottage which will be locked if not booked together but will bring the number of guests who can be accommodated up to ten if you are.

Shaftesbury is one of the highest and oldest towns in England, a beautiful town sitting in a glorious landscape. The town is the home of Gold Hill, made famous by the “Hovis” advert and with views across the Blackmore Vale and thatched cottages, it is very picturesque. The main shopping is around the High Street where there are lots of small, independent retailers as well as coffee shops and cafes and you will find craft shops down the side streets. Shaftsbury market takes place on Thursdays and sells local produce, all against the backdrop of Gold Hill and spectacular views.
In July, the Gold Hill Fair is a weekend event with music, dance and more. In June, join in with the Shaftesbury festival. This is a weeklong celebration, enjoy music, entertainment and even dog shows - fun for all the family. At the end of August visit the Gillingham and Shaftesbury Show. This has over 500 exhibitors and a host of events making this a fantastic day out for all the family, jam-packed with entertainment for all ages.
Longleat House, the Safari and Adventure Park, is a great day out and is just a 30 minute drive away. You can see lions, tigers, wolves, cheetahs and a whole host of other animals. There are seasonal events and tours on offer or visit the house and gardens. Explore Old Wardour Castle, run by English Heritage. The castle featured in Robin Hood, Prince of Thieves, find the turrets and the views from the top of the castle to beautiful countryside beyond.
