Description

This 300-year-old former coach house, brimming with character, is set in an attractive, quiet courtyard on the outskirts of Lyme Regis. Old and new come together seamlessly with inglenook fireplaces and the original flagstones alongside new oak flooring and tasteful furnishings, including a fabulous dining table for family-friendly gatherings. This property and Stable Cottage across the courtyard offers combined holiday accommodation for up to 10 people in the Old Coach House and up to 5 guests in Stable Cottage. If you wish to leave the car at the property it's only a 20 minute walk to the beach, promenade and town along the picturesque river walk. In Lyme Regis, a wide selection of independent shops, bar, tearooms and restaurants as well as an award-winning museum, and small theatre can be found. For the more adventurous the South West Coast Path heads west through the amazing Undercliff between Lyme Regis and Axmouth, or east towards Charmouth and the National Trust land at Golden Cap.

Accommodation:

Entrance porch to front door and hallway. The lounge has a leather 5 seater sofa and two armchairs, flat-screen TV, three feature chairs and a Wood burner. Kitchen with Full Range gas AGA (this will be unavailable in the summer unless specially requested by the guest), double oven and grill, American Fridge with plumbed in chilled water feed and ice cube maker, 4-slice toaster, dishwasher and microwave. Ground floor cloakroom. Utility room (shared) with washing machine, tumble dryer and drying facilities. The dining area consists of an impressive dining table for up to 15 people, with the addition of a small kitchen table to seat a smaller group. A second Lounge area has a 3 seater and 2 seater sofa along with table football and Flatscreen TV. Patio doors lead to the terrace and garden.

Stairs to the first floor and Bedroom 1 with a 4ft 6inch double bed. Family bathroom with large shower, W.C. and washbasin. Bedroom 2 with 4ft 6inch four-poster bed. Bedroom 3 with twin 3ft beds. Bedroom 4 with 4ft 6inch double bed. Master bedroom with 5ft King size bed and ensuite with separate bath and shower, W.C and washbasin. Balcony with views over the countryside.

Outside:

Patio area with a large picnic bench. Gravel area with garden furniture. Shared lawn garden, 56ft x 50ft. Views across the local countryside.

Parking:

Off-road parking for 2-3 cars in the shared courtyard along with additional roadside parking. There is also extra parking available down a private lane.

Lyme Regis

Lyme Regis, nicknamed 'The Pearl of Dorset' lies on the World Heritage Jurassic Coast and is near Charmouth and the Devon border. Lyme Regis is a historic seaside resort and fishing port and boasts breathtaking scenery, making it a resort for all seasons. The town is famous for its fossils, often found on its beaches and cliffs. In fact, it was in the cliffs that the famous Ichthyosaur was discovered by Mary Anning, the daughter of a local fossil collector. She went on to find a complete Plesiosaur and the well-preserved remains of a flying reptile. Book a fossil walks with local experts to ensure you are both safe and full of knowledge by the end. The famous harbour wall known as 'The Cobb' featured in the film and novel of The French Lieutenant's Woman.

Lyme Regis is a great place to eat out and has a wide variety covering the globe as well as price. From traditional fish and chips to Asian fusion, Indian, Italian, Spanish and British. For foodies try Robin Wylde and their amazing taste menus. The Whole Hog will have you feeling full with excellent roasts while Red Panda offers Asian as well as a traditional British menu.
