The Compass is a one-bedroom holiday apartment set in a pleasant courtyard in Swanage just a couple of minutes walk to the award-winning sandy beach, pubs, cafes, shops and restaurants. With views on clear days to the Isle of Wight, you can spend the day relaxing on the beach, or take in a boat trip or explore the Isle of Purbeck by steam train all of which is again within walking distance. The walking here is spectacular, with spectacular views to match as you walk along Studland, take in Old Harry Rocks or Durlston Country Park. Perfect for a romantic getaway.

The accommodation at The Compass is all on the first floor and comprises of an open plan living area with TV with BT Sports and WiFi, a dining area and kitchen equipped with gas oven and hob, fridge, dishwasher and washing machine. There are a double bedroom and a shower room with basin and toilet. A slide-out bed will accommodate one child.

Outside is a courtyard complete with table and chairs. There is parking for one small car. Your fuel, power, bed linen and towels are all included in the price.

Swanage is a large, pretty, coastal town on the Isle of Purbeck in Dorset. The town has an array of shops, cafes and restaurants and is a great base for exploring what Swanage and the surrounding areas have to offer. Enjoy the charm and the atmosphere of the town, join in with regatta in the summer months. For those walking enthusiasts, enjoy amazing views along this stretch of the South West Coast Path. The chalky cliffs of Old Harry's Rock are spectacular and are well worth your time to visit. The rocks mark the most eastern point of the Jurassic Coast. Visit Durleston Country Park and Nature Reserve and explore the 320 acres of stunning countryside. Discover the vast species of wildlife and marvel at the spectacular views. There are plenty of water sports to try out here and great waters to try them out in.


Swanage beach is 4 miles of golden, sandy beach. Sheltered waters, and lifeguards patrolling the beach in the summer months, makes it very popular with families. This beach holds the prestigious Blue flag award for beach cleanliness. Why not hire out a traditional beach hut for the duration of your stay, this will save you carrying your beach luggage everywhere. Pedalos can be hired on the beach as can deckchairs, although dogs are not allowed on this beach from May to September. Pier Beach is a tiny sand and shingle beach near the traditional pier, perfect for sitting and watching the world go by. The clear waters make it great for snorkelling or angling. Dogs are allowed on this beach all year.

Swanage Railway

Swanage Railway is a fantastic and exciting way to see the Isle of Purbeck in style. This heritage railway has a steam and diesel train running the five and a half miles from Norden. It takes in Corfe Castle and Swanage with picnic tables at most stations for you to make the most of the day. Take a day trip to Corfe Castle, explore the castle and then make the return journey back. At Christmas, join the Swanage railway for a magical Christmas adventure for not only the children to enjoy but the adults too.
