Description

Situated in a fantastic location overlooking Lyme Bay with stunning views of the Harbour, Portland Bill and Lyme Bay. The Lodge is a genuine Norwegian log cabin, spacious throughout with a large open plan living area and French doors opening onto a wooden veranda where you can relax and absorb the stunning view. The Lodge really is a perfect property in which to enjoy a family holiday or getaway with friends. The open plan living area lends itself perfectly for entertaining a large group and is ideal for spending time together. The cabin also benefits from a wood burner which will give the cabin a warm and comfortable atmosphere in the cooler parts of the season. The Lodge is an individual Norwegian cabin, in a unique position, and does not form part of an arranged park location.

Within a ten minute walk, guests can meander down to Lyme Regis bustling seafront and promenade. Often referred to as the ‘Pearl of Dorset’, Lyme Regis is well known for its literary association with Jane Austen as well as its diverse geology which people from across the world flock to in the hunt for fossils. The historic old town retains an olde worlde charm with small streets filled with galleries, boutique shops and famed gastro restaurants and cafés. Its sheltered south-facing beaches are safe for children and water sports enthusiasts alike with great fishing and leisure boat opportunities available from the Cobb harbour. For those who would like a change of scene and a day away from the beach, the surrounding rolling countryside, which is an area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, boasts walking and cycling in abundance or perhaps while away a few days exploring pretty East Devon fishing villages such as Beer and Branscombe or head to the market town of Axminster to sample Hugh Fearnley-Whittingstall’s River Cottage Canteen.

Accommodation:

Steps to veranda and front door. The hallway leads to an open plan living area with kitchen, incorporating dishwasher, electric range oven with gas hob and microwave. Dining area with table seating eight guests, comfortable sofas, 42″ flat-screen TV, wood burner and sea views. The lounge has two sets of French doors that can be opened to allow access on to the veranda. Utility room with fridge freezer and washing machine. Bedroom 1 with 4ft 6inch double bed and en-suite shower room and sea views. Bedroom 2 with 4ft 6inch double bed and sea views. Bedroom 3 with full-size bunk beds as well as a single bed which has a pull-out truckle suitable for children and young adults. Family shower room with WC, washbasin and heated towel rails. The Lodge is an individual Norwegian log cabin, it is not on an organised park with other log cabins.

Outside:

The Lodge has a large veranda with stunning sea views, patio table and chairs, barbecue and garden bench. There is also a large play area for the children, equipped with a football goal and 12ft trampoline (please note that this area is shared with another property).

Parking:

There is parking space for up to three cars.

  • Local facilities: Beach, shops and pubs: 10 minute walk downhill or 2 minutes in the car. Buses regularly pass the bottom of the drive giving you another transport option.

Lyme Regis

Lyme Regis, nicknamed 'The Pearl of Dorset' lies on the World Heritage Jurassic Coast and is near Charmouth and the Devon border. Lyme Regis is a historic seaside resort and fishing port and boasts breathtaking scenery, making it a resort for all seasons. The town is famous for its fossils, often found on its beaches and cliffs. In fact, it was in the cliffs that the famous Ichthyosaur was discovered by Mary Anning, the daughter of a local fossil collector. She went on to find a complete Plesiosaur and the well-preserved remains of a flying reptile. Book a fossil walks with local experts to ensure you are both safe and full of knowledge by the end. The famous harbour wall known as 'The Cobb' featured in the film and novel of The French Lieutenant's Woman.

Lyme Regis is a great place to eat out and has a wide variety covering the globe as well as price. From traditional fish and chips to Asian fusion, Indian, Italian, Spanish and British. For foodies try Robin Wylde and their amazing taste menus. The Whole Hog will have you feeling full with excellent roasts while Red Panda offers Asian as well as a traditional British menu.
