Whitegates Lodge is a modern converted lodge standing in the grounds of the owner's home in the village of Osmington. Osmington itself has Craig's Farm Dairy, a tea room and farm shop, perfectly placed for buying fresh milk, cheeses and wonderful ice cream. The pub, which dates back to the 13th century, is very popular with a large outdoor seating area in which to take in the views of coast and countryside. The walking here is spectacular with glorious coastal walks available leading to Ringstead, Durdle Door and Lulworth Cove. Walking west will take you into Weymouth and the sandy beach and lots of places to eat out but there are many villages close to hand that are very pretty and have good pubs. On my list to visit would be Sutton Poyntz, Langton Herring, Abbotsbury, West Bay, West Lulworth and Kimmeridge with many more to discover inland. Lots of places to visit close by with the car as well including the Bovington Tank Museum and Monkey World.

Osmington is a small village with narrow streets lined with picturesque thatched cottages. The village is very popular with walkers wanting to see the White Horse ingrained in the hillside. Built in 1808 to honour King George III, who was a frequent visitor to the area. The figure on the hillside depicts the King riding a horse who sadly did not survive long enough to see this famous landmark.
Osmington Mills is a 10-minute walk along the coast path. Soak in the stunning views along the way. Visit the very pretty and very popular pub The Smugglers. The pub tells tales of the French smuggler, Pierre Latour, in the 17th century. Sit back, take in the stunning views and the excellent home-cooked food. It is well worth a visit.
