Wren Cottage is a lovely three bedroom cottage nestled in the charming rural village of Netherbury. Wren Cottage has been tastefully updated whilst keeping the charm and character of the cottage, a lovely wood burning stove makes this a cosy retreat all year round.

The village is set in a picturesque valley, surrounded by rolling hills and wrapped around the river Brit. There is a tremendous community spirit in the village with the Village Hall often having activities and events.

There is also an annual Village Gardens Open Event.

A community playing field and playground are nearby, as well as Howards Wood which provides stunning woodland walks for people and their dogs.

The village also has a stunning Church dating back to the 12th century. If you like wine, then just a few minutes drive away is Furleigh Estates Vineyards with its International award-winning sparkling wines. You're welcome to go for a tour & tastings, so do check out their website for details.

For something different, if you love walking and Donkeys then combine both at Donkey Walking Adventures which takes walks around the surrounding area of Netherbury, or alternatively you can walk to the coast following the river walks.

Netherbury is also the location for the original River Cottage in the TV series with Hugh Fearnley-Whittingstall, which you will see on one of the many village walks.

Netherbury is situated one mile south of the picturesque market town of Beaminster, with its independent shops including butchers, bakers, deli, cafe's and restaurants.

Bridport is 5 miles and West Bay (access to the amazing Jurassic Coast, a World Heritage Site and where Broadchurch the TV series was filmed) just 7 miles away.

The Jurassic Coast is a must-visit for anyone interested in geology, history, photography or for just exploring the stunning coastal scenery along the 95-mile beautiful South West coastal footpath.

You could try some fossil Hunting in Charmouth or Lyme Regis and hopefully be lucky enough to find your own piece of history.

Area Details

Beaminster is a small, picturesque town in the heart of West Dorset's Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. The town has many local artists living here. In fact, the Beaminster Festival held in late June celebrates local artists and much more. Beaminster has two supermarkets, craft shops, and a cafe. Natural beauty is all around this town and an array of walks to explore either by foot or by bike. If you prefer to try something a little more unusual, explore the area in the company of Llamas or Donkey Walking Adventures. Mapperton House and Gardens is not only beautiful but is also free to RHS members. It lies just a short distance away and is a great day out. It is no stranger to featuring in films, you may have seen it in Daphne Du Maurier's "Rebecca". Famous faces you may see in the town include Martin Clunes who has now been a resident of the area for many years.
